Thursday Evening Bible Studies – “The Rise of the Kings” I & II Samuel
Our study through the Books of I & II Samuel will help us to understand Israel’s transition from the time of the Judges to the Rise of the Kings of Israel. The desire of Israel to have a king was the culmination of 400 years of rebellion against God. We will see God’s awesome grace towards His chosen people. God would give them their king, but not without a stern warning of what to expect.
In this study, we will learn how God established the throne of King David. I Samuel covers the life of Israel’s first king, Saul. II Samuel covers the life of Israel’s second king, David, and God’s promise to establish King David’s throne forever. We will take a closer look at the connection between King David and the promised Messiah, Jesus Christ.
