Last week we saw the reception of the King, this week we see the rejection of the King. The religious leaders of Israel rejected God’s invitation to have a relationship with Him.
It was through Jesus that the invitation from God was available to them. But they rejected every opportunity, every messenger, and yet Jesus continued to minister to them. He did this because of the covenant God made with Abraham. God sent His Son to the Jews first. They chose religion over relationship. The following parable was given to underscore Israel’s rejection of Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God.
Jesus is the only way for sinners to be reconciled with God. We must place our faith in Jesus Christ and Him alone. No works, bloodline, or good intentions can reconcile a lost sinner to a perfect, righteous, and holy God.
“Whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved (Romans 10:13).”
