“The Olivet Discourse” – Part 2 Matthew 24:4-14 “Trouble Is Coming”

In this study, we will look at the characteristics and events of the end times as revealed by Jesus in His teaching to His disciples on the Mt. of Olives. Jesus delivered this amazing discourse just prior to His arrest followed by His scourging, crucifixion, death, burial, and glorious resurrection.

Dr. John F. Walvoord, former President of the Dallas Theological Seminary, suggests the following breakdown of Matthew Chapter 24. Verses 4-14 are general signs of the age between the first and second coming of Jesus Christ.

Verses 15-26 can be considered as specific signs of the final years preceding Christ’s return.

Verses 27-31 deals specifically with the event of the second coming of Christ. Verses 27-31 can be compared with the return of Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords in  Revelation 19:11-21.

Though Matthew chapter 24 gives us tremendous insight into the progression of the end times, these verses do not give us the ability to predict the exact time of the second coming of Jesus.
